RIVAL 34

Broker's description:

This Rival 34 for sale in Corfu is little gem of a boat. A rare find she is in the same family ownership from new and immediately from stepping aboard it is clear she has been loved and well cared for. She boasts legendary seakeeping abilities and quality construction that is just not seen today. A very original example of this genuine classic and viewing is highly recommended to appreciate fully.

The Rival 34 has beautiful classic lines with her purposeful raised bow and lovely pinched stern giving that classic look but also allowing her to slip through the waves effortlessly when the going gets tough. A genuine go anywhere cruiser whose performance matches her looks. This example is in great shape but unfortunately a change in circumstances means she cannot be used currently so has been unused for a few years hence the reason for her sale.

Her aft cockpit is long and deep giving a feeling of security and is surprisingly spacious, easily allowing sleeping outside under the stars if need be. Tiller steering gives a responsive feel to the helm and the lockers are of an excellent size giving good outside storage space. Wide side decks and the narrow coach roof give easy access forward and there is an excellent sail wardrobe.

Below decks the quality construction is immediately apparent. A heavily laid up boat and interior joinery that shows off the quality timber and a level of craftsmanship just not seen on modern designs. Immaculate bilges and everything in its place are an indication of just how well cared for this boat has been throughout her life. Descending the companionway steps where the tough and dependable Bukh engine is located, there is a U shaped galley to port and good sized chart table to starboard. Aft of this is a quarter berth that also acts as the chart table seat. The aft bulkhead is the Rival classic “keyhole shape”. Forward of this are two settees in the saloon that make excellent sea berths whilst on passage and there is a huge amount of practical stowage as you would expect on cruiser of this calibre. A heads compartment stretches across the full width of the boat and the forepeak area houses a surprisingly spacious double cabin forward.

This Rival 34 appears in great order, it could argued she could do with upgrading to modern nav electronics etc but if you are looking for a genuine classic that reflects the best of what was available in her heyday then she must surely be the best original example available and is very realistically priced for such a beautiful classic yacht with genuine go anywhere potential.
